You're not going to believe this ..

This 85 year Harvard study blew my mind!

Sleep, exercise, eating quality foods and resting are all important for mental health. But by far the most important is building quality social connections with others.

Humans are social creatures, and we require social interactions with others. This can go in the form of building friendships, caring for family members, dating and being in relationships.

Those with quality friendships will also experience a ~

· Reduced risk of anxiety and depression

· Improved ability to manage stress

· Better sleep

· Better self-esteem

· A stronger immune system

· Longer life

There was a study done by David. A Sinclair, a professor in the department of genetics at Harvard.

It was an 85-year study, and it involved more then 724 participants from all over the world where they were asked detailed questions about their lives at two-year intervals.

The individuals that lived the longest & happiest lives had strong positive relationships with other people.

This is something that I need to work on and put more of an emphasis on as well.

What happens though if you isolate yourself for consistent long bouts of time?

It can increase your risk for ~

- Heart disease & stroke

- Type 2 diabetes

- Depression & anxiety

- Dementia

- Early death

In fact, according to researcher Julian Holt-Lunstad, loneliness is associated with a 30% increased risk of early death.

What can you do to prevent this?

Prioritise a night with friends, family or your partner at least 2 – 3X a week. I would also do your best to start conversations with other people that you don’t know. That way you can continue to build upon your social connections.
