Two pieces of advice I wish I knew was younger

I’m about to turn 30 years old. Here’s two pieces of advice I wish I knew when I was younger.

1) Your network is your net worth

This couldn’t be more accurate. If you become friends with a smart and successful people, then you will also become smart and successful.

The same can happen the other way. If you hang out with negative and dumb people then you will also become negative and dumb.

I’ll even give you a personal example. The most amount of money I’ve ever made is because of the friends I’ve made that work in different industries in finance, real estate and technology. We simply want to help each other win and make more money.

Same goes if you want to get in shape. Surround yourself with fit people. It will have a tremendous effect.

2) Use the gym as your coping mechanism

I was going through family difficulties growing up. What did I do in response? I would go to the gym and exercise. I didn’t even think twice about it.

To be honest, it was a lucky coincidence. The only reason I started working out was because of my buddy Blui who started doing push-ups in front of me. He got jacked out of nowhere and I proactively set out to do the same thing. If you notice, this also goes back to the network effect.

From then on out, anytime I’d feel angry, sad, anxious, depressed, frustrated or excited I’d get a workout in. It didn’t matter how I was feeling, I would always come out feeling MUCH better.

Overtime this also compounds. You really start to see a difference between people that prioritize fitness and exercise and people that don’t.

If you haven’t started, prioritize it now. The sooner the better!
