Is the sauna worth the hype?

I think it is and here’s why!

Research shows the sauna is a strong detox and help with longevity as it’s great for your heart, metabolism, brain health and skin.

(How it works)

Spending time in a sauna gently stresses the body, activating natural repair mechanisms that support better health. Finnish dry saunas, in particular, use carefully controlled heat to promote these beneficial effects, such as ~

Supporting protein repair and maintenance (via heat shock proteins)

Enhancing circulation and relaxing blood vessels

 Increasing antioxidant defenses

 Regulating metabolism

 Improving physical performance

 Lowering inflammation

 Strengthening the immune system

 Promoting cell repair and recycling

Together, these responses contribute to improved overall well-being.

1. Protects your heart

Going to the sauna 4-7 times a week, for at least 19 minutes, is shown to improve heart health and lower blood pressure.

2. Improves mental health

Going to the sauna is linked with a lower risk to dementia and boosts your overall mental health.

3. Reduces inflammation

Frequent sauna use lowers systemic inflammation.

4. Can improve your metabolism

- A substantial reduction in harmful cholesterol levels (total cholesterol and LDL)

- A temporary but notable decrease in blood triglycerides

- A modest increase in beneficial cholesterol (HDL)

5. Can serve as a great form of detox

Research shows that sauna-induced sweating significantly boosts the removal of common environmental toxins like arsenic, lead and mercury.

6. Great for longevity

Using the sauna regularly can help you live longer and lower your risk of dying.

(My recommendation)

I would try to go to the sauna at least 3 – 4X per week. Keep it within 10 – 20 minutes and would recommend a cold shower right after.

Start small and slowly build your way up as you get used to it.

Let’s make it a great week!
